This is a Japanese style hunting knife with a red silk Ito wrap to complete the traditional Samurai aesthetic. The steel is called San Mai which in Japanese means “3 layers”. The Japanese would often use San Mai for their knives and even swords to create more ductility in them as the outer steel is often softer than the core. This San Mai is made by me from 80CrV2 for the core and 410ss for the jacket which allows for great edge retention and a good coverage of stainless steel on the outside. The tang is coated with carnauba wax under the wrap to make it easier to clean. This is a really unique one of a kind knife for hunting or EDC. This knife comes with a handmade vertical leather belt sheath.
